Before we get started with the daily meditation, themes, and journal prompts, I wanted to give you some handouts that I have created around the basics of meditation. Especially if you are beginning your meditation journey, I think this information will be useful for you. If you have been meditating for a while, this information may help solidify for your practice and why it is important for you and/or provide you with a few new tidbits. There is always more to learn!
You will notice in the meditation positions handout that I am using some props to demonstrate some positions, if you are interested at any point in acquiring some of these props, below are some further explanations and links to ones I have and enjoy. Keep in mind, though, that you don’t NEED anything to meditate. You can sit against a wall and go for it, or sit in your car (I may do this sometimes). It doesn’t require anything special.
There are also shops that specialize in crystals and malas (Amazon is just the easiest — and often cheapest — for me to provide quick links). Specialty shops might have higher quality stones and crystals if energy is something important for you in your practice. When possible, I think it is always better to be able to hold a crystal and feel its energy and which one is a fit for you.
Again, all of this is optional. You don’t need anything to meditate but a tall spine and your breath. 🙂
