There are no Pre-Requisites for Yoga: Stopping the “When I ____, Then I will ____” cycle

We often delay things we want to do by saying we can’t do them until we achieve something else. That something else is usually a punishment. We have to achieve this before we can reward ourselves with that. We need to stop doing that. You have permission to pursue whatever it is you want to try.

As a yoga instructor, I hear this type of construction all the time.
“I want to start or try yoga, but I need to _____ first. “
“My doctor/friend/neighbor/spouse suggested I try yoga, but first I need to _____.”
“I’m going to come to class once I ______.”

There are no pre-requisites to yoga. If you want to yoga, come on in. The water is fine.
